Admissions Arrangements for 2022-2023

Thornton Dale Primary School is part of the Elevate Multi Academy Trust.

However, our admission arrangements to school are managed by North Yorkshire County Council in line with the School Admissions Code and Fairness Access Protocols.

This applies to places when children would normally start school (the Reception Year) and to children who may join the school after this time (for example, as the result of a house move).

Published Admissions Number

Our PAN (Published Admissions Number) which is the maximum number the Academy may admit to a single year group is:

Published Admission number for 2021/22: 26

Admissions Policy:

Any parent wishing to consider Thornton Dale Primary School for their child may contact the Academy for an appointment to look around.

Thornton Dale School also admits pupils from outside its traditional catchment area.  Places are available throughout the school and parents interested should, in the first instance, contact the Headteacher.  At present some pupils are from out of the area.  Transport is provided for pupils from the traditional catchment area outside Thornton Dale.  Pupils admitted from other areas are expected to provide their own transport.

For pupils entering school at any other time to different year groups please contact the Headteacher in the first instance who will decide if the class requested has capacity to admit additional pupils. Our pupil admission number for each year group is 26. Should the school be oversubscribed applications should be made to North Yorkshire County Council Education Office as above who will then follow the admissions policy.

All parents of children entering the school in Reception are required to complete a “School Preference Form” - obtainable via the NYCC website as above.  Parents are required to formally state in which school they wish their child to be educated and then submit this request to the North Yorkshire County Council Area Education Office for consideration.  It should be noted that school cannot give permission for any child to attend.
