About our School:
We are a small, rural village school serving a dispersed rural community, with just under 150 pupils on roll. Our 2025 Ofsted inspection judged Early Years as ‘Outstanding’, recognising the exceptional start children make, the strength of our SEND provision and the high quality of adult interactions. Inspectors praised the strong foundations we build in communication and language, early reading and personal development. At the heart of our provision is a nurturing, language-rich and accessible environment where play is valued as the key vehicle for learning. Skilled adults extend children’s thinking through meaningful interactions and carefully planned experiences. Open-ended and natural resources spark curiosity, imagination and independence while supporting and scaffolding children’s play. Alongside engaging, purposeful play, where adults skilfully direct and support children’s learning, we also provide engaging adult-led activities to support the delivery of the curriculum through programmes such as Mastering Number and Little Wandle. Through our network, schools can observe our provision in action and explore approaches to early language, inclusive practice and purposeful play-based learning that develop confident, curious learners with transferable skills for lifelong learning.
